Dhampus peak is located between the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Himalayan range. Dhampus peak(6012m) is also know as Thapa peak. It is an interesting peak for climbers in the north-east of the Dhaulagiri massif. Which offers spectacular views of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri and hidden valley. AMS Info

Acute Mountain Sickness(AMS) and worse.

Trekkers who travel to high altitudes can sometimes develop acute mountain sickness. Other names for this condition are altitude sickness or high altitude pulmonary edema. It typically occurs at about 8,000 feet, or 2,400 meters, above sea level. Dizziness, nausea, headaches, and shortness of breath are a few symptoms of this condition.

kinds of altitude sickness:-

1-Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) is the mildest form and it’s very common. The symptoms can feel like a hangover – dizziness, headache, muscle aches, nausea.

2-High Altitude Pulmonary Edema (HAPE) is a buildup of fluid in the lungs that can be very dangerous and even life threatening.

Prevention:
Ascend slow(300-500m per day.
Don’t exert yourself.
Eat high carbohydrate foods.
Drink lot’s of water and garlic soup.
